Who we are

Solar Advice: Solar installers you can trust

Local, accredited, and straightforward about how solar works.

Our approach to solar installation

Solar Advice started with a simple idea: solar should be reliable, not rushed. We work as accredited installers because the detail matters—roof condition, electrical switchboard capacity, your household usage pattern, local weather zone—these facts shape a system that actually works. We don't cut corners on panel quality, inverter sizing or the electrician's sign-off.

Every installation includes a proper site and roof assessment, system design matched to your usage, all equipment (panels, inverter, racking, isolators), installation by our own accredited electrician, grid connection paperwork, and app setup with handover training. We monitor the job from start to finish because we'll service it after.

Whether your roof is tin, tile or metal; whether you have single or three-phase power; whether you're adding a battery to existing solar or starting fresh—we size the system to suit your home, not our inventory. Price reflects the real factors: system size, panel and inverter tier, roof complexity, switchboard condition, and any available STCs or state rebates.

SAA accreditation

Our electricians are trained and SAA-accredited installers. We follow the Clean Energy Regulator (CER) rules for grid connection and Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs). Accreditation is the baseline; it's not a feature.

No hidden costs

We quote based on your actual roof, switchboard, usage and location. Price ranges ($4,000–$9,500 for panels; $7,000–$15,000 for battery alone; $12,000–$26,000 for packages) move with system size and brand tier. We explain what moves the needle and confirm current rebates before you sign.

Long-term support

Solar isn't a one-visit job. We offer maintenance, inverter replacement ($1,500–$4,200), panel cleaning ($150–$450), and repairs ($180–$1,200 depending on scope). We're here when something needs attention.

Questions

Common questions

What qualifications do your installers have?
Our electricians hold SAA accreditation as required by the Clean Energy Regulator (CER) for any grid-connected solar installation in Australia. SAA accreditation means they have completed approved training in electrical safety, photovoltaic system design and installation, and they comply with Australian Standards (AS/NZS 1170, AS/NZS 3000 and others). We advise you to confirm current accreditation requirements with the CER before you engage any installer. Accreditation is renewed periodically; ask to see a current certificate.
What does your solar installation include?
A full install from Solar Advice covers: site and roof assessment; system design tailored to your usage and local weather zone; supply of panels, inverter, racking and isolators (all gear matching your system size); installation by our accredited electrician; all grid connection paperwork and CER lodgement; final inspection and sign-off; monitoring app setup and handover training. You receive a system ready to generate power and reduce bills, plus documentation for warranty and grid connection.
How much does a solar system cost in Australia?
Solar panel installation ranges from $4,000–$9,500 for a typical residential system (1–5 kW). Cost depends on system size (kW), panel and inverter brand tier, roof type (tin, tile, metal) and pitch, number of storeys, switchboard capacity, and whether you have single or three-phase power. A 5 kW system with good panels and an inverter costs more than a 3 kW system. You may also reduce upfront cost through Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs): a 5 kW system in a high-zone area can offset $2,000–$3,000 in year one. Ask us to model your STCs based on your postcode and system size.
Do you offer battery storage?
Yes. Solar battery installation alone runs $7,000–$15,000 depending on capacity (3–10 kWh) and brand. A solar plus battery package costs $12,000–$26,000 for a matched system. Adding a battery to an existing solar installation costs $7,500–$16,000. Battery cost reflects usable capacity and inverter type (hybrid or separate). You may also qualify for the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program (from 1 May 2026): about $252/kWh for the first 14 kWh, $151/kWh from 14–28 kWh, and $38/kWh from 28–50 kWh. We confirm current rebate amounts with your state energy agency before you commit.
What are Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs)?
STCs are a federal incentive under the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) managed by the Clean Energy Regulator. When you install solar, you receive STCs based on your system size (kW), your location (weather zone multiplier), and a five-year deeming period. Each STC is currently worth around $38 and can be traded on the market or assigned to your installer as an upfront discount. A 5 kW system in a high-zone area might generate $2,000–$3,000 in STCs over five years. The value changes with market price and the deeming schedule. Confirm current figures with the CER before purchase; we work through the CER lodgement and paperwork on your behalf.
Can you install solar on my roof type?
We install on tin, tile and metal roofs. Installation cost and complexity vary by roof pitch, number of storeys, guttering layout, and condition. A pitched tin roof on a single storey is straightforward; a low-pitched tile roof with multiple skylights takes longer and may cost more. We carry out a site and roof assessment before quoting so you know the real cost. If your roof is too fragile or unsafe, we'll let you know and suggest alternatives like a ground-mount system (rare in suburban Australia but possible on suitable land).
Do you install EV chargers and heat pump hot water?
Yes. EV charger installation ranges $1,200–$3,200 depending on charger type (single or three-phase, 7 kW or 11 kW) and electrical distance from the switchboard. Heat pump hot water installation runs $3,500–$6,000 and is often paired with solar to maximise daytime heating. Both are ideal add-ons to a solar system because they use power when your panels generate most. We handle the electrical design, installation and all grid-network paperwork.
What happens after installation?
We set up your monitoring app so you can track generation and consumption in real time. We run through operation and maintenance in the handover meeting. Going forward, we offer annual maintenance checks, panel cleaning ($150–$450), inverter replacement ($1,500–$4,200 if needed), and repairs ($180–$1,200 depending on issue). Most solar systems run for 25+ years with minimal intervention, but we're here when you need us. Panels come with manufacturer warranty (typically 25 years); inverters 10 years. We document everything at handover.
